Mr. Gints Kaminskis, Chairman of the LALRG, takes part in UCLG Executive Bureau

Mr. Gints Kaminskis, Chairman of the LALRG, was in Strasbourg from 23 to 25 May 2018 to participate in the UCLG (United Cities and Local Governments) Executive Bureau under the theme "Inclusive and Secure Cities: Key for Sustainable Development".

The session was organized by the UCLG Executive Bureau in co-operation with the UN-Habitat (United Nations Human Settlements Programme), ensuring a dialogue between all levels of government on mutual cooperation and coherent actions to jointly achieve the goals of Agenda 2030.

During the event countries of the world shared both local and national experiences on what has already been done on their way to achieving these goals. The need for cooperation and assistance to the weaker and less developed regions of the world was debated as well as the need for more involvement of young people in decision making processes at different governance levels, because today's decisions will also greatly affect their future and they will be those who will take over the work started now.

The three-day work program has been really broad, including discussions on migration and gender issues, core values of culture, citizen participation, solidarity and peace-building as a basis for sustainable development.
