The delegation of representatives from local governments of Latvia participates in the National Urban Forum

The National Urban Forum took place in Azerbaijan on October 5 and 6, in which several chairmen of Latvian local governments also participated. It was the first urban planning and architecture forum of this scale in Azerbaijan, which also referred to the importance of the UN Sustainable Development Goals in urban development and planning.

Andris Rāviņš, Chairman of the Jelgava City Council gave a presentation - "Jelgava – Sustainable and Smart City" at ADA University in Baku.

The delegation of Latvian local government representatives included the chairman of the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments Gints Kaminskis, Chairman of Gulbene Municipality Council Andis Caunītis, Chairman of Jelgava City Council Andris Rāviņš, Chairman of Jēkabpils Municipality council Raivis Ragainis, Chairman of Ķekava Municipality Council Juris Žilko and Chairman of Preiļi Municipality Council Ārijs Vucāns.

The main objective of the forum is to share good practices and lessons learned to promote sustainable development and urban recovery, while offering a unique opportunity to showcase Azerbaijan's urban crisis management model. At the same time, this forum is an opportunity to network with practitioners and policy makers facing similar challenges around the world.
