On 27 August a meeting of the local government associations from the Nordic and Baltic states (NoBa) took place in Klaipeda (Lithuania). The Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments was represented by Mudīte Priede, Secretary General and Kristīne Kūlīte, Adviser on Foreign Affairs.
The meeting was opened by Vytautas Grubliauskas, Mayor of Klaipeda. He presented the city's development vision based on the concept of the blue economy, which is actively being implemented in Klaipeda. The Vice minister of Ministry of Interior Arunas Gražulis presented the guidelines for regional policy in Lithuania.
During the meeting there was also dynamic discussion on cohesion policy. Representatives of all associations presented current issues, changes and reforms in their associations. Kristīne Kūlīte presented the report of Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe about local and regional democracy situation in Latvia and recommendations.
