Brochures on cooperation between Latvian and Ukrainian municipalities – inspiration for new activities

On 9 December at the Leaders’ Summit organized by the Council of European Municipalities and Regions (CEMR) in Karlsruhe (Germany), the brochures on cooperation between Latvian and Ukrainian municipalities created within the framework of the “Bridges of Trust” initiative were presented to the participants.

The brochures, available both electronically and in printed version, reflect how cooperation has developed between Kuldīga municipality and Chuhuyiv in Ukraine, Ķekava municipality and Novyi Bilous in Ukraine, as well as Gulbene municipality and Korop in Ukraine.

The collaborations started as online meetings, but despite the war in Ukraine, they have developed into sustainable cooperation and knowledge exchange in various areas, from the provision of social services to digital transformation. All municipalities involved in the project have concluded Memorandums of Understanding and have also met in Latvia in the framework of study visits. The basis of this success was both the desire of both parties to share knowledge and jointly promote the sustainable development of municipalities, as well as the support of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of Latvia and the Association of Ukrainian Cities.

We hope that these visual materials will inspire others for new collaborative activities!
