Representatives from local governments of Azerbaijan come to Latvia for a study visit

On 23 – 27 July the Latvian Association of Local and Regional Governments (LALRG) and Stopiņi, Dobele, Ventspils, Grobiņa, Valka municipalities host the representatives of local authorities of Azerbaijan and their association for a study visit. The delegation includes representatives from M. Resulzade municipality of Binegedy district of Baku, municipality of Nizami, Novhani municipality of Absherons district and also representatives from the associations of local governments.

On the first day of the visit the delegation had the meeting with LALRG’s Chairman Gints Kaminskis, Advisers of the LALRG, representatives from municipalities of Latvia and attended the opening ceremony of the Trading House of Azerbaijan in Riga. During this week delegation will visit all hosting municipalities to discuss the issues relevant for the development of local governments in both countries, current cooperation activities and the possible further cooperation possibilities between Latvian and Azerbaijan municipalities.

The aim of the visit is to further develop cooperation with municipalities of the Eastern Partnership countries, which are priority partner countries of Latvia in development cooperation.
